The 16th Annual Georgia Throws Clinic, held at the University of Georgia, is back and will have a new format this year.
Teaching progressions and demonstrations for both shot put and discus will continue to be part of the program. However, this year we will also offer a section on college recruiting in addition to weight training and sports psychology.
Every participant will also receive a CD will videos of all teaching progressions for the shot put and discus along with gymnastics excesses and conditioning circuits.
Lastly, the last two hours of the clinic will be dedicated to actual throwing by the participants and they will be led through the etching progressions and drills  by the clinic instructors.

Saturday, February 18th, 2017

8:00-9:00am          Check-in, Registration (Lobby of Rankin Smith Academic Center)

9:00-9:30am           Recruiting & College Opportunities for the throws with Don Babbitt

9:30-10:00am        Coaching Technology The use of Smartphone and iPad apps to          
                                enhance your coaching of the Throws with Don Babbitt  

10:00-10:30am      Sports Psychology for the throwing events with Don Babbitt

10:45-12:00pm      Weight Training/Conditioning Demonstration in Stegeman Coliseum
                                 Weight-room, and discussion of how to set up strength and power
                                 training programs for the shot put and discus with Don Babbitt

12:00-1:00pm        LUNCH

1:00-2:15pm           Demonstration of Teaching Progressions for Discus  & Shot Put    

2:30-4:45pm           Throwing Session for Participants for Discus & Shot Put


               1) Teaching Progressions for SP, DT, HT, & JT

                2) Gymnastics & Conditioning Exercises for Throw

The check-in for the clinic will be held in the on the University of Georgia campus beginning at 8:00am in the Lobby of the Rankin Smith Academic Center.  The shot put and discus demonstrations will be held at the Spec Towns Track and Field Complex.  Parking will be free in the parking lots near the Rankin Smith Center.  Directions to the Georgia Throws Clinic will be mailed/e-mailed upon receipt of registration.  Any questions should be directed to Don Babbitt at (706) 296-8915 or
