Mental Edge

The Mental Edge Running Camp will feature high quality training and racing insights for high school middle distance and long distance runners.  It is designed to spark growth physically, mentally, and spiritually and teaching subjects will include nutrition, injury prevention, racing technique, and training knowledge to help athletes achieve more than ever. You will be pushed

This is an intimate camp designed for more personal instruction and attention (participation limited to 12 athletes) for athletes who want to take their running to the next level.  We are based in beautiful Breckenridge Colorado (9,000 ft elevation), where you will train and learn in a small group setting with experienced coaches. One-on-one attention and group sessions will both be utilized to help you enter the fall season with a psychological “mental edge” over your competition.

Joshua Coon, the Head Cross Country Coach at Colorado Christian University will be the primary speaker at camp. He holds a B.A. in Exercise Science, an M.A. in Counseling and is finished with PhD coursework in Exercise Science and Sports Psychology. His unique combination of hands-on experience (coaching both high school and college teams, running as a collegiate athlete himself, and working as a mental health professional for several years) and accademic preparation (he has studied topics ranging from physiology, kinesiology and nutrition to the psychology of competionion and peak performance) make him specially qualified to assist young runners as they develop both their athletic and psychological strength.
